Something a little different

Here's an old lead Griffin produced by Ral Partha if memory serves me correctly.  I've had this little beastie for a couple decades and finally sat down and threw some paint at it.  I didn't want to go the traditional route of all browns and earth tones.  What fun is that?  Anyway, hope you like it.

Inspiration for the coloration came from the bluejays in my feeder.

The Blue Dragon

 Probably one of my favorites by Tom Meier.  Produced by Ral Partha and offered by Citadel in the 70's and 80's.  Still available and is a good challenge to get painted.

The Black Dragon

 Another Ral Partha dragon.  It should be noted that Citadel also offered this and some of the other Ral Partha dragons at this time, to me it doesn't matter still the same all that matters is the sculptor.  This time The Black Dragon, once again the sculptor is Tom Meier.  This was one of a bunch of figures I picked up in a group I bid on at the eBay auction site.  I was just screwing around with it and started to paint it.  The casting had a horrendous mold line running through its chest and it was so bad some of the details were almost lost.  Lots of work and Vallejo liquid paste helped get through the toughest stuff.

I get it he really isn't Black, but I take many of my inspirations from nature and pure black is not as common as thought.  I prefer to think that this dragon may appear blacker in a less agitated state but as you can see he is having issues.

The Golden dragon

 This is the second of my comeback dragons.  The Golden Dragon from Ral Partha.  Another Tom Meier Classic and a great dragon pose.  I manipulated the wings a bit to enhance the figure.

This was the first time I worked with inks as well as paints.  For paints I pretty much use Vallejo products but I have been stretching into the Two Thin Coats line.  For inks I've been playing with Daler and Rowney, Inktensity, Tamiya transparent colors as well as alcohol inks.  I've learned to overcoat the alcohol inks when done they lift off fairly easily.

My bases consist of layers of cork board with ground foam and detritus from Green Stuff World.

The Zombie Dragon

 Well, it's been the better part of a decade.  So, I guess I will start it out with a dragon risen from the dead.  This was the first thing I painted after a long hiatus. I will be starting to post more of my recent stuff as I get time as well as updating some of the older posts.
